Hawarden, Iowa ~ Yvonne Faye Kraft, 65, of Hawarden, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at her residence in Hawarden.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Marys Catholic Church in Hawarden with Father Doug Klein officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will follow in the Grace Hill Cemetery. The Porter Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com. The family prefers memorials be directed to the Hawarden Ambulance.
Yvonne Faye Kraft was born May 16, 1950 in McLaughlin, South Dakota, the daughter of Gustave and Vera (Aman) Adam. She graduated from the McLaughlin High School. She married Casmer Cas Kraft on September 27, 1968. They had three children, Anne, Chad, and Matthew. On September 27, 2003, the couple renewed their marriage vows as a celebration of 35 years of marriage. Together they worked in the grocery business in McLaughlin and Aberdeen, South Dakota and Manson, Iowa. In September 1989, the couple began working as counselors in adolescent residential facilities, always working with 10 teen-age girls. They have also been foster parents since 1988.
Casmer died on May 30, 2004 following a lengthy battle with cancer. In 2005, Yvonne relocated from Hawarden to Carter Lake, Iowa. She worked as a foster parent service coordinator for Childrens Square USA until her death.
Yvonne was a member of the American Lutheran Church and later the St. Marys Catholic Church. She enjoyed doing household remodeling projects, knitting, and crocheting. She and Casmer were also active EMTs while living in McLaughlin.
She is survived by her children, Anne Marie Kraft Kleinhesselink and husband Josh of Hawarden, Iowa, Chad David Kraft of Carter Lake, Iowa, and Matthew Adam Kraft and wife Melissa also of Hawarden; a brother, Mark Adam and his wife Rhonda of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and 8 grandchildren, Shelby, Jordan, and Alyssa, Paige, Dillion, and Jayde, and Cameron and Drayven.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Robert Adam; and sister, Darlene Hlavink.
