Rock Valley, Iowa: Wilbur “Bill” Boer, 88, of Rock Valley, Iowa died Friday, September 25, 2015 at Whispering Heights at Rock Valley. Memorial service will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at First Reformed Church at Rock Valley. Burial will be held prior at 10:00 a.m. at Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley. Visitation, with family present, will be held Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at First Reformed Church. Wilbur “Bill” Alfred Dale Boer was born to Adolph and Marguirita (Vander Wilt) Boer on September 27, 1926 at Middleburg, Iowa. He attended Rock Township School #5 Hill Top for 8 years. At the age of 74, he earned his GED. Bill proudly served in the United Sates Army during WW II from 1945-1947. He served in Germany from March 20, 1946 till February 8, 1947 where he was a radio operator. Bill was united in marriage with Verna De Graaff on February 19, 1946 at Rock Valley, Iowa.

Bill worked as a parts man at Ray Berner’s Oliver Dealership in town till they moved to the farm in 1951. He farmed for over 50 years and the last years with his son, Keith. He also drove school bus for Rock Valley Community School. Bill and Verna moved into Rock Valley in October, 1989. Bill spent many hours volunteering at Justice for All, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He moved to Whispering Heights on January 31, 2014. Bill served on the Sioux County A.S.C. Board for 15 years and the Farmers Lumber Company Board. Bill was a member of First Reformed Church where he served as an Elder and Deacon.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 69 years; 4 children and their spouses; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 22 step-great-grandchildren; their spouses; 1 step-great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
