Sioux Falls, South Dakota ~~ Verlyn Glenn Beermann, 61, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, formerly of Hawarden, Iowa, died suddenly on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at his residence in Sioux Falls.
Funeral Service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28th at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, Iowa with Rev. Todd Bunge of Trinity Lutheran Church LCMS officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden. Condolences may be sent to www.porterfuneralhomes.com.
Verlyn Glenn Beermann was born January 2, 1955 in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Darlene Zoeller. He grew up in Hawarden where he attended school.
Verlyn worked as a counselor for the homeless in Omaha, before moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He has worked at the Goodwill Store in Sioux Falls since 1991. Verlyn was honored by Mayor Dave Munson as the 1,000,000th rider on the Sioux Falls Transit System in 2008.
He enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets. He liked to collect miniature tractors and liked listening to old country western songs, especially those sung by Johnny Cash. Verlyn liked to joke around and loved his two dogs, Ike and Cammy.
Verlyn is survived by his sister, Carla Zoeller of Sioux Falls; also his nephew, Travis (Cora Dietrick) Zoeller and their children Jeweliawna and Cohen; and his niece, Nicole (Ryan) Voeltz.
He was preceded in death by his mother Darlene in 2005; and uncle and aunts.
