Tena Kramer

Ireton, Iowa: Tena Kramer, age 89 of Ireton, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Royale Meadows in Sioux Center. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ireton Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Norlyn Van Beek. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery of Ireton. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Ireton Christian Reformed Church beginning at noon and the family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 ' 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to the Ireton Christian School. Tena (Mars) Kramer was born on December 9, 1923 to her parents Lige and Gertie Mars, the youngest of seven children. They resided on a farm east of Seney, Iowa. She attended school in Seney through the 8th grade. At the age of 18, Tena and her parents moved to a farm by Maurice, Iowa, and attended church at the Ireton Christian Reformed Church. It was there that she met her future husband, Arie Kramer. Arie and Tena were married on January 12, 1945 at Ireton Christian Reformed Church. Tena was a busy farm wife and mother, cooking many meals and tending a large garden each year. She enjoyed her church, and was involved in Martha Circle, Ruth Circle, and Coffee Break Bible Study for many years. She loved her family, and enjoyed attending the many activities of her children and grandchildren. Arie passed away in June of 2002. Tena continued to live in Ireton for a number of years, but later moved to Kosgrove Assisted Living in Sioux Center. In October of 2011 she moved into Royale Meadows in Sioux Center.
Tena is survived by her seven children: Allan (Carol) Kramer of Sioux Center; Gloria Warren of Mesa, Arizona; Marcia (Eldon) Westra of Sioux Center; Loretta (Lyle) Myers of Ireton; Norm (Glenda) Kramer of Hawarden; Carol (James) Yacko of Altoona, IA and Dorene (Dave) Vander Zwaag of Sioux Center; 20 grandchildren, 28 great- grandchildren, and one brother, Minderd (Lois) Mars of Primghar. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Geneva Kramer of Sioux Center and Marie Van Zalen of Grand Rapids, MI.

In addition to her husband, Tena was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Rebecca Kramer, son-in-law, John Warren, three brothers, Peter, Jake, and Andrew Mars, and two sisters, Jacoba Pennings and Cynthia Hofland.
