Suzanne was born March 10, 1955, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Lenice (Sheehan) Reilly. She graduated from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in Sioux City in 1973.

She was united in marriage to James (Jim) Lee Hansen on February 27, 1976, at the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City. The couple made their home in Parker, SD, in 1978. They later moved to Hawarden, IA, in 1985 where they raised their three children Karla Leigh Embrock, Kelly Josephine Haidet, and Kyle James Hansen.

Suzanne was employed in accounting at the Iowa Lamb Plant for the past 30 years, in recent years as the office manager. She remained as the plant closed and continued her employment under the new ownership of Superior Farms. Suzanne completed her Business Degree at Bellevue University of Nebraska in 2001. She began classes after her daughter Karla’s diagnosis and treatment for melanoma in 1998.

Suzanne was an active member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church: she served as a Eucharistic Minister bringing communion to the sick, confirmation sponsor, religious education teacher, Parish Council, Ladies’ Guild, and counted the collection. Suzanne enjoyed the Hawarden Women’s Golf League, the sisterhood of P.E.O., and annually participated in Relay for Life in honor of her daughter, Karla. Most of all Suzanne loved to spend time with her friends and family, her loving husband, children, and all her precious grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jim, and their children, Kelly (Jon) Haidet and Kyle Hansen, both of Plymouth, MN, Scott (Dana) Embrock of Sioux City, IA, and their seven grandchildren Adam, Hayden, Landon, and Charlotte Embrock, and Elijah, Jeremiah, and Caleb Haidet. Survivors also include her brothers Bob (Cheryl) Reilly of Spokane, WA, Marti (Mary Jo) Reilly of Sioux City, IA; her aunt Mary Ann (Vern) Yates of Sioux City, IA; Jim’s brothers Jeff (Vicki) Hansen of Colorado Springs, CO, and Matthew (Kim) Scheer of Hornick, IA, and Jim’s mother, Beverly Scheer of Moville, IA.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her daughter, Karla Leigh Embrock, parents, Bernard and Lenice Reilly, fathers-in-law, Leo Hansen and Edmer Scheer, and sister-in-law, Josephine Reilly.
