Sadie Eisma De Vries

Ireton, Iowa ~ Sadie Eisma De Vries, 100, of Ireton, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2016 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden, Iowa.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Ireton Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Norlyn Van Beek officiating. Private family committal will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Sadie Eisma De Vries was born June 20, 1915 at Orange City, Iowa, the daughter of Sipke and Jennie (Katje) Eisma. She attended country schools in the McNally area.

Sadie married Cornie De Vries January 29, 1936 at Ireton, Iowa. They made their home near Edgerton, Minnesota. Cornie died on December 27, 1951 as a result of a farm tractor delivery accident. Sadie made her home in Ireton, Iowa from 1951 to 1974. She lived in Denver, Colorado until returning to Ireton in 2002. She was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church. Sadie worked all of her adult life, until retirement came at the age of 80.

She is survived by her son, Curt De Vries of Ireton, Iowa; brother, Eugene Thomas Eisma and his wife Betty Jean of Inwood, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Edna Eisma Meyer and husband Clayton of Denison, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Emma De Vries Gilman of Edgerton, Minnesota; and many nephews and nieces.

Sadie was preceded in death by her husband, Cornie De Vries; parents; Sipke and Jennie Eisma; siblings and their wives, Sidney and Minnie, Peter and Bessie, Burton and Gertrude, Allen and Clara, Ernest, and an infant sister, Katherine Eisma; also her parents-in-law, William and Albertha De Vries; in-laws, Mike and Merrie and Ruth De Vries, Evert and Marth De Vries, Jack and Jennet and Niele De Vries, Bert and Hilda and Martha De Vries, Niel and Coba Van Nieuwenhuysen, Joe and Gert Vandenberg, and Edward Gilman.
