Ruth Tallman

Ruth Marlys Tallman, age 94, of Colora, MD, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023. She was born on March 10, 1929, in Ireton, IA to the late Edward Herbert Heidbrink and Luella Nancy (Dittmer) Heidbrink.

Ruth was a nurse at Calvert Manor Nursing Home in Rising Sun, MD for many years before retiring in 2013. She wore her nursing cap to work faithfully every day. Her patients received not only excellent care but also her love. Ruth loved getting visits from her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, and watching or listening to all of her children’s talents. Ruth never turned down a soft served vanilla ice cream cone. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ruth was survived by her four sons: James E. Tallman of Colora, MD, Randy Tallman and his wife, Rhonda of Irondale, MO, Terry Tallman of Colora, MD, Ricky Tallman and his wife, Lisa of Elkton, MD; three daughters: Cherie Ann Opoka of Nashua, NH, Deborah Adams and her husband, Victor of Coatesville, PA, and Jacqueline Tallman of Bear, DE; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, James Tallman.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on June 20, 2023, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ireton, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Northern Plains Reservation Aid”, “American Heart Association” or “St. Jude’s Children Hospital” and send in care of R.T.
