Rosalba Mercado-Martinez

HAWARDEN, IOWA – Rosalba Mercado-Martinez, 60, of Hawarden, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Hawarden Regional Healthcare Hospital in Hawarden.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawarden with Father Sunny Dominic officiating. A Prayer Vigil will follow the mass. Rosalba Mercado-Martinez was born January 24, 1958 in Ensenada Baja California, Mexico. When she was 15 years of age, she and her siblings followed their mother to Los Angeles, California, where she studied cosmetology. Rosalba found a job she loved, being a hair dresser for a Wig Shop for a little more than 25 years. In between that time, she had one daughter, whom she became a mother and father for her. In 2010, Rosalba decided to reside in Hawarden, Iowa, where she could help her daughter raise her two granddaughters, whom she loved and adored very much.

On her free time, she loved to go shopping and spend quality time with her daughter and grandchildren. They were everything to her. Every chance she got, she would always take trips to California to visit her sister, brother, and friends. She was a wonderful woman who respected everyone she met and loved meeting and talking to everyone who showed interest in being her friend. Rosalba always had kind words for everyone and was always there for her friends and family.

She will always live on in the hearts of her family who include her daughter, Viviana Diaz and her husband Rolando Ramirez; her granddaughters, Marielena Ramirez and Yasmin Ramirez; sister, Martha Lara and husband Esteban Lara, brother, Santiago Mercado, sister, Belen Hernandez; and 14 nephews.

Rosalba was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Guadalupe Martinez.
