Roni Jo Van Ravenswaay, 28, of Richfield, MN (formerly of Ireton, IA), passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 at the University of MN Medical Center-Fairview, in Minneapolis, MN.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2013 at the First Reformed Church (502 Ash Street, Ireton). Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church (301 Maple Street, Ireton ). Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton.
Roni was born on December 1, 1984 to Ron and Wanda VanRavenswaay of Ireton. As a 2003 graduate of West Sioux, Roni stayed active as a football cheerleader, stand out basketball player, and was on the track and field team. She enjoyed singing, drawing, and painting as well as spending her summers at the pool. After graduation, Roni attended the Aveda Institute-Minneapolis where she earned a degree in Cosmetology, graduating with honors. She spent 4 years working as a stylist for Regis before becoming a young entrepreneur. At age 24 she opened the doors to her own salon, All the Rave, where she had a large loyal following. Known as the small town girl in the big city, she won over clients with her personality, talent, and big warm smile. She loved helping people look and feel better about themselves through her work. When not hard at work, Roni enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She loved Girl's Night Out, traveling, and fishing. She made many memories on trips to Chicago, Houston, Scottsdale, and Las Vegas. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Ireton. May her zest for life and kind heart carry on.
She is survived by special friend Wally Berly, parents Ron and Wanda VanRavenswaay of Ireton, siblings Michelle (Mike) Gostonczik of Plainview, MN, Travis (Carmen) VanRavenswaay of Sioux Center, Keri (William) VanRavenswaay-Harrington of Big Lake, MN. Nieces and nephews: Alix, Jacey, Jacob, Ryan, and Gillian. Many aunts and uncles and friends. She was preceded in death by grandparents Richard J. and Ruth VanRavenswaay and Lawrence and Frances Mulder, Uncle Larry Peterson and Aunt Leola VanRavenswaay.
Memorials can be directed to Iowa State Bank. P.O. Box 279 Ireton, IA 51027. They will be utilized for the community vacation bible school program and local community service project. The Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home of Rochester are handling her arrangements.
