Ron Finch

Hawarden, Iowa- Ronald R. "Boogie" Finch, 77, of Hawarden, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at the Akron Care Center.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Friends will be able to visit with the family at a luncheon following the committal service. The Porter Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent to www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Ron was born March 2, 1936 in rural Sioux County, Iowa to Ray and Vivian (Liston) Finch. Ron attended school through 12th grade at West Sioux. Following graduation, he served our country in the United States Army from September 24, 1958 to September 24, 1960. Ron married Gloria Ludwig June 16, 1967 and they made their home in Hawarden. Ron owned and operated the Pool Hall. They later ran the Avalunch Restaurant in Hawarden for 30 years. He was the office personnel at L.G. Everist from 1989 to 2008. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He loved bowling, and golfing, but his favorite pastime was fishing with his sons and special fishing buddies.

Ron is survived by his wife, Gloria; and their children, Brenda of Hawarden, Teressa (Brian) Driesen of Alcester, SD; Ron (Luann) Finch, Jr. of Hudson, SD, Randy (Beth) Finch of Sioux Falls, SD, Mike (Casey) Finch of Hawarden; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Terry (Grace) Finch of Sioux Falls, SD; sister, Carol Meins of Canyon City, CO; sister-in-law, Karen Hartman of Sioux City, IA; brothers-in-law, Ken (Chris) Ludwig of Hawarden and Dennis Ludwig of Tenopah, Arizona; sister-in-law, Barb Hasse of Peoria, Arizona; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Vivian; sister, Lois (Finch) Hartman; brothers-in-law, Jim Ludwig, Jim Meins, and Dick Hartman.
