Rocky Wayne Leeman

HUDSON, SOUTH DAKOTA ~ Rocky Wayne Leeman, 79, of Hudson, passed away peacefully, with family present, on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Alcester Care and Rehab in Alcester, South Dakota.

   A Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, Iowa. The memorial service will be taped and uploaded to this obituary page.

   Rocky Wayne Leeman was born February 22, 1943, in Tacoma, Washington, the son of Warren and Olga (Olson) Leeman. He grew up in various places, but ended up calling Hudson, South Dakota home. Rocky worked in different professions from running heavy equipment, to roofing, and farming with his brother-in-law and nephews.

   Rocky married Susie Anderson on September 6, 1985, and with that union he gained 5 stepchildren. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, driving his 1965 Buick wildcat, and being with his family. Rocky lived life to the fullest.

   Rocky is survived by Susie Leeman of Hudson, South Dakota; daughter, Jodi (Daryl) Worm of Jasper, Indiana; 2 stepsons, Jeff (Heather) Brandt of Buffalo Center, Iowa and Nick (LaDawn) Brandt of Hudson; 2 brothers, Warren “Buddy” Leeman of Garretson, South Dakota and Jerry Marquardt of Garland, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

   Rocky was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Olga; 2 brothers, Gary and Tommy Marquardt; sister, Kay Osterkamp and her husband Earl; 3 stepchildren, Jim Purdie, Lori Willette, and Steve Brandt; great-granddaughter, Madelyn Brandt; sister-in-law, Donna Leeman; and his pug, Sassy.
