Rick Lee Koldenhoven

Rock Valley, IA: Rick Lee Koldenhoven, 62, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Friday, October 21, 2022, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 25, at 11:30 AM, at First Reformed Church of Rock Valley. The service will be livestreamed at https://www.rvfrc.org/. Visitation, with the family present, will be held prior to the memorial service from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church. Private burial with family and close friends will be held at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Public viewing, with no family present, will be held Monday, October 24, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

   In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to Life 96.5 (https://life965.com/) or First Reformed Church of Rock Valley.

   Ricky “Rick” Lee Koldenhoven, son of Ronald and Geraldine (Eshuis) Koldenhoven, was born August 22, 1960, at Orange City, Iowa. Rick grew up in Rock Valley, Iowa and graduated from Rock Valley High School. Rick worked for several years as a maintenance manager for Rock Industries of Rock Valley. On March 5, 2005, Rick was united in marriage with Sandi (Kreykes) De Zeeuw.

   Rick had a true love of life and found enjoyment in many different activities. He loved football, golfing, grilling, gardening, and riding motorcycle. He liked having grandkids over even though he referred to it as being in “Grandpa Jail”. Some of his best times were spent with family. Rick especially enjoyed his annual fishing trips with the guys!! Many fishing stories were told about the nephews long after the trip was over. When it was time to unwind, Rick would enjoy a glass of wine out on the deck with friends or just with Sandi Rae.

   Rick is survived by his wife, Sandi of Rock Valley; 3 children, Aaron (Doretta) Koldenhoven of Cedar Falls, Iowa and their family, Hayden Koldenhoven and Anthony (MiKayla) Ohl, Aric (Holly) Koldenhoven of Rock Valley and their children, Emily, Autumn, and Owen Koldenhoven, and Amber Koldenhoven of Rock Valley and her son, Bentlee Baartman; 3 stepchildren, Kent (Camille) De Zeeuw of Sheldon, Iowa and their children, Lillian and Violet De Zeeuw, Kristi (Brad) Wiersma of Inwood, Iowa and their daughter, Brooklin Wiersma, and Karmen (Travis) Voigt of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and their children, Ezra and Jonah Voigt; stepmother, Mary Koldenhoven of Rock Valley; and siblings, Sheri (Ralph) Bousema, Jeff (Carla) Koldenhoven, Kristi (Berwyn) Van Kekerix, all of Rock Valley, Annie Hiller of Brandon, South Dakota, and Jen (Scott) De Jong of Rock Valley.

   Preceding Rick in death were his parents, Ronald and Geraldine; and nephew, Justin Bousema.
