Rhonda Plageman

June 16, 1954 — March 30, 2021

Rhonda Kay (Schwiesow) Plageman, 66, died on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Ava’s House hospice facility in Sioux Falls. A casual celebration of life will be held with family present at the Hawarden City Park enclosed shelter house on Friday, May 28, 2021, from 5pm – 8pm.     Rhonda was born on June 16, 1954, in Hawarden, Iowa, to Marvin and June (Johnson) Schwiesow. She grew up in Hawarden, graduating from West Sioux in 1972. Rhonda was married to Bob Plageman, to which her first daughter, Sooner, was born. A second daughter, Sawyer, was born to Rhonda and second husband, Dale McKee.    Rhonda held many interests including her family, especially her two daughters, and later her granddaughters, researching and learning, mysteries of book and television, breaking out into song, and crossword puzzles. She was known for her quick wit, smart mind, and kind heart.    Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Sooner Katz and son-in-law Todd, of Lenexa, Kansas and Sawyer Wieseler and son-in-law Steve, of Sheldon, Iowa; and two granddaughters, Irie and Sylvie Wieseler; sisters, Brenda (Pat) Holston, Pam (Roger) Wakeman, and Rebecca (Michael) Winterfeld; and brother, Marc (Kathy) Schwiesow; uncles Mike (Donna) Johnson and Jerry (Cheri) Johnson; several cousins, and many loving nieces and nephews. Welcoming Rhonda to her next adventure are her parents and a granddaughter, Poppy Katz.     In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, as the organization’s mission statement has always been near and dear to Rhonda.
