Randee Daale

Hawarden, Iowa ~ Randee Rae (Johannsen) Daale—mother of three, grandmother of nine, and school mother to hundreds for over a quarter century—died on Wednesday, August 19, of cancer. She was 61.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Associated Church in Hawarden with Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Friday, with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Associated Church. The Porter Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Randee, the daughter of Clarence and Donna (Conway) Johannsen, was born February 5, 1954 and was raised in Hawarden.
On September 12, 1975, she married the love of her life: Pete Daale. The couple made a home on a farm north of Hawarden, where they raised three children: Justin, Kelli, and Ashley.
Randee spent almost her entire career (25 years) at West Sioux. She started in the lunchroom, where she became famous for her cooking, love of cooking, and love for the children. Four years ago, Randee left the lunchroom to be an in-class aid to her great niece, Anneke Kramer. It was a role she loved.
Randee was an avid football fan and a true 49ers fanatic. Her home was the second home for her children’s friends and, later, to some of the many school children who were drawn to her kind and gracious spirit. Of the many school children in her life, Maria Diaz-Topete held a special place in Randee’s heart.
“Grandma’s house” was also the most special place for her most special grandchildren. Each of them—Alexis, Caleb, Gavin, Brynlie, Blake, Kasen, Brevan, Annabel, and Henry—was never more happy, or more well-fed, than when staying with Grandma.
In addition to Pete, her three children, their three spouses (Kari Daale, Jason Fixsen, and Ryan Koopmans), and her grandchildren, Randee is survived by her two sisters, Cathie Brown and Jeanne Stanton (her best friends,) and many nieces and nephews.
Randee is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Donna Johannsen and nephew Chad Brown.
