Ralph Moore

d. March 27, 1985

Ralph Elmer Moore, 59, passed away in the hospital at Beale AFB CA on March 27, 1985. He was attended by his wife Doris (Robinson) Moore and daughter Linda (Moore) Fayer. Burial of cremated remains will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Eden Cemetery in Hudson, South Dakota.

Ralph was the son of Elmer Clayton Moore and Eva Almira (Chamberlain) Moore of Wheelersburg Ohio. He was preceded in death by a brother Lloyd Moore and both of his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Doris Lillian (Robinson) Moore, two daughters, Linda (Moore) Fayer of Sacramento CA, Kathleen (Moore) Stewart of Bowie MD, and son Ralph (Chip) Moore, Jr. of McClellan AFB CA, Additionally, he is also survived by 4 grandchildren Travis Berry of Sacramento CA, Sean Stewart of Bowie MD, Ryan Berry of Sacramento CA and Heather Stewart of Bowie MD.

Ralph was a veteran of 3 wars, WW11, Korea, and Vietnam and spent 30 years active duty in both the Army Air Corp during WW11 and later the USAF. He retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sargent. His service to our country took him to many places. He lived across the US as well as tours of duty in France and Germany. Shortly after Chip was born he spent a year on a remote tour in Alaska. During WW11 Ralph was stationed in Eye England and flew 30+ combat missions over Germany as a tail gunner on a B17.

Ralph was an avid hunter of deer, duck, rabbit (whatever was in season). While living in France, he hunted Wild Boar. In later years, he set his rifle aside and hunted with bow and arrow. He loved fishing as much as he did hunting. While serving his final Air Force tour in Klamath CA, he was able to fish in the Pacific Ocean as well as in local rivers. He delighted in catching both salmon and crabs.

When Ralph retired from the Air Force he pursued his lifelong dream of building a house. Because the permits required the foundation of the house to be poured by a professional, that was the only portion of the building process that was done by others. With the help of wife Doris and son Chip he built a beautiful home in Northern CA near Beale AFB.

Ralph was a member of the Masonic Lodge and attended the Methodist Church in Yuba City CA.
