Ireton, Iowa-- Pearl Schipper, age 98, of Ireton, Iowa, died peacefully at Hillcrest Healthcare Center on Monday, June 26, 2017. The family gives their gratitude to those who cared for her during her stay in the care center. The funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 30th at the First Reformed Church in Ireton with Rev. Doug Van Aartsen officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday at the church. The Porter Funeral Home is assisting the family. Born on June 19, 1919, Pearl Schipper was the second of seven children born to Cornelius and Jennie (De Groot) Schipper. Pearl was a sweet, kind, gentle woman with a quiet spirit. When Pearl was 19, her mother passed away and she stepped forward to help care for her siblings and to help her father run the household.
She dedicated 30 years serving as a clerk at the United States Postal Service in Ireton, offering her friendly service. She enjoyed crocheting, travelling, and playing games.
Pearl is survived by her sister, Jeneva Coulander and her brother, Wally Schipper and his wife Dolores all of Ireton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Jennie; and 4 brothers, Del, Cornelius “Mike”, Reuben, and Andy.
