Paul Brown

Inwood, IA: Paul Brown, 88, of Inwood, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 13, at 11:00 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of rural Inwood with Rev. James Koller officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be held prior to the service at Richland Cemetery of Inwood at 10:00 AM. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Friday, November 12, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Inwood.

Paul Wendell Brown was born on July 1, 1933, in Inwood, Iowa to Ralph and Blanche (Syverud) Brown. He was baptized and confirmed in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Inwood. Paul grew up on a farm southwest of Inwood. He attended rural grade school and graduated from Inwood High School in 1951. After graduation, he stayed home and helped out on the farm. In 1952, he attended Augustana College for one year then served in the South Dakota Air Force National Guard for three years.

Paul married Evelyn Johnson of Canton, South Dakota on June 30, 1956. They made their home southwest of Inwood on the Henry Ranschau farm. To this union three children were born: David, DeAnn, and Dennis. Paul enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, playing cards, and attending all of his children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Paul and Evelyn moved into Inwood in 1995. He enjoyed Sunday night cards with family and was a great help out at the farm when needed. In 2005, they went to Texas for the winter and spent the next 10 winters there.

Grateful for sharing his life is his son, David (Deloris) Brown of Inwood, Iowa, daughter, DeAnn (Bob) Herting of Brandon, South Dakota, son, Dennis (Connie) Brown of Inwood; eight grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife, Evelyn; parents, Ralph and Blanche; and his grandparents.
