Patsy Bootsma

Ireton, Iowa ~ Patsy Mae (Mars) Bootsma, 67, of Ireton, lost her battle with cancer on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Hawarden Regional Healthcare Hospital in Hawarden, Iowa.

Funeral Service will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Ireton Christian Reformed Church in Ireton, Iowa with Rev. Carl Klompien and Gale Tien officiating. Burial will be at the Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden, with a luncheon to follow at the Hawarden Community Center. Visitation with the family present will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Ireton Christian Reformed Church. The Porter Funeral Home is assisting the family. Patsy Mae Mars was born October 25, 1949 in Orange City, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Nettie (TeBrink) Mars. She married Calvin Bootsma on March 5, 1971 in Ireton, Iowa. Patsy enjoyed her family camping trips to Minnesota and Iowa. She also could be found reading, gardening, and garage sales. Patsy loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by her family and many close friends she has made over the years at Ireton Christian Church, school, and the community of Ireton.

She is survived by her husband, Calvin of Ireton, Iowa; three children: daughter, Mary Jo and her husband David Clark of Merrill, Iowa and their children, Gabe, Paige, and Mikaela; son, Carl Bootsma and his wife Karoline of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and their children, Carson, Karrie, and Christian; and daughter, Karen and her husband Brad Paulsen of Merrill, Iowa and their children, Maxine and Jaxon; also her siblings, Les and Lorraine Mars of Orange City, Iowa, Joyce and Hank Dykstra of Orange City, Gerb and Helen Mars also of Orange City, and Donna and Gary DeHaan of Sioux Center, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Nettie; and son, Jared Bootsma.
