Patricia Olsen

Hawarden, IA: Patricia 'Pat' Olsen, 94, of Hawarden, Iowa died Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Morningside Manor in Alcester, South Dakota. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Associated Church in Hawarden with Rev. Dan Lozer officiating. Burial will follow at the Grace Hill Cemetery. Patricia was born October 17, 1919 in Grady County, Oklahoma to Charlie and Allie (Martin) Dismuke. Pat entered the US Navy on September 23, 1943 and was honorably discharged on September 19, 1945. During that time period she married Glenn Olsen on September 30, 1944 in Washington D.C. After their service, they returned to Hawarden and began working at the family business, Carl's Grocery. In later years, Pat worked at the thrift shop. Glenn died on July 20, 2001 and Pat moved to Morningside Manor in October of 2010. Pat enjoyed golfing, doing yard work, and walking. She was also very patriotic, loved the American Flag and was a member of the Associated Church.

Pat is survived by nieces, nephews, and good friends, Harlan and Ruth Benda.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Allie Dismuke; sisters, Vera Oden, Othella Carter, and Edith Cagle; and brothers, Ray and Roy Dismuke.
