Nora Marie Niemeyer

May 24, 1942 — November 13, 2023

Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Nora Niemeyer, 81, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on November 13, 2023, at Dow Rummel Village in Sioux Falls following a long illness.

Nora Marie Kinsella was born on May 24, 1942, in Dublin, Ireland to James and Catherine (Keavey) Kinsella. Her family lived in many countries during Nora’s childhood due to her father’s military service. They eventually settled in England. Nora met Warren Niemeyer of

Inwood, Iowa, while he was stationed at RAF Fairford in Fairford, UK. They were married on December 8, 1962. The couple moved to the US shortly afterwards and settled in Sioux Falls. Nora devoted herself to raising her children. She served many years in the roles of grade school room mother, Cub Scout and Brownie leader, and even volunteered to coach a softball team

when she had never played herself. In later years, she threw herself into the roles of grandma and pet parent. She logged countless hours on Candyland and was an enthusiastic audience at many dress-up shows, art exhibits and sporting events.

Nora is survived by her daughter, Ann (Chuck) Putzier of Sioux Falls; son, David (Lori)

Niemeyer of Bellevue, Nebraska; and grandchildren, Catie, Michael, and Erin. She is also survived by a sister, Maureen (Robert) Larson in Australia, and a brother, James (Yvonne) Kinsella in England. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Patrick Kinsella.

Nora requested no funeral services, and her family will honor her wishes. A private family service will take place at a later date. Porter Funeral Homes of Hawarden, Iowa, is in charge of the arrangements.

Nora’s family asks that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Sioux Falls

Area Humane Society or your local animal shelter in Mom’s memory.

Nora’s family would like to thank the staff of Dow Rummel Village and AseraCare Hospice for the care and kindness they provided to Nora during her illness.
