Rock Valley, Iowa: Nell M. Visser, 84, of Rock Valley, died Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa. Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Wednesday, February 17th at the Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley. Burial will follow at the Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Trinity Christian Reformed Church.
Nellie “Nell” was born September 1, 1931 at Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of Peter and Johana (Meert) Alphenaar. She was raised at Kalamazoo and attended the Kalamazoo Christian High School. Nell met the love of her life, Cornie Visser, in Kalamazoo in 1949. They were united in marriage on August 27, 1954 and then moved to Manhattan, Montana. Nell loved being a homemaker and raising her five children. She enjoyed spending time with her family; was a great cook; and enjoyed gardening and canning. In the fall of 1971, Nell and family moved from Montana to Rock Valley. She worked as a clerk for Van’s Food Pride for 25 years and has been a volunteer for the Foster Grandparent Program.
Nell is survived by her husband, Cornie of Rock Valley; children, Mike (Debbie) Visser of Redfield, SD, Ivan (Sharon) Visser of Brandon, SD, Debra (Paul) Kahn of Seattle, WA, Bruce Visser of Seattle, WA; 23 grandchildren; and sister, Carol (Paul) Dykstra of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rod Visser; and sisters, Jacoba, Anna, Henrietta, and Geraldine.
