Hull, IA: Minard Van Den Top, 91, of Hull, Iowa, formerly of Doon, Iowa, entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 14 at 10:30 AM at the Hull Protestant Reformed Church with Rev. James Laning officiating. Following a light luncheon at the church, burial will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Doon at approximately 1:00 PM. Visitation, with the family, will be held Friday, July 13 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the church.
Minard M. Van Den Top was born September 8, 1926 to Jake and Minnie (Burggraaf) Van Den Top in Doon, Iowa. Minard married his wife, Cora Maassen, on February 5, 1948. The Lord blessed them with 70 years of marriage. Minard worked at Double HH Manufacturing in Rock Valley. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, serving in Korea from July 11, 1946 – December 15, 1947.
Minard was a member of Doon Protestant Reformed Church for most of his life, until he moved to Pleasant Acres Care Center and transferred his membership to Hull Protestant Reformed Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Cora; son, Jerry (Karen) Van Den Top of Hull; daughter, Judy (John) Bouma of Hudsonville, Michigan; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Marlene Van Den Top of Hull; son-in-law, Duane Netten of Hull; 2 brothers, Pete Van Den Top of Doon and Elmer Van Den Top of Rock Valley; sister, Alice (Ed) Van Ginkel of Doon; and 2 sisters-in-law, Jenny Maassen of Rock Valley and Gertrude Van Den Top of Hull.
Minard was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Minnie; daughter, Beverly Netten; son, Henry Van Den Top; 2 great-grandchildren, Jamis Scott Thompson and Brittany Van Den Top; 5 brothers, Gerrit Van Den Top, Bill Van Den Top, Albert Van Den Top, Andrew Van Den Top, and Johnny Van Den Top; 8 sisters-in-law, Jeanette Van Den Top, Wilmina Van Den Top, Arlene Van Den Top, Rika Van Den Top, Grace Van Den Top, Ellen Van Den Top, Alice Oostra, Pat Maassen, and 3 brothers-in-law, Marinus Oostra, John Maassen, and Marinus Maassen.
