HARRISBURG, SOUTH DAKOTA- Michael M. Hulleman, 67, of rural Harrisburg, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at his residence under hospice care.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31st at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden. Interment, with military rites conducted by the Two Oaks American Legion Post 254 of Hawarden and the Iowa Army Honor Guard will follow at the Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden.
Michael Melvin Hulleman was born October 4, 1954 in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Melvin and Mary (Waterman) Hulleman. Michael graduated from West Sioux High School in 1973. He entered the United States Army in June of 1973 and was stationed in Germany. Following his discharge in 1980 he moved to Tallahassee, Florida. He was employed with the US Postal Service and moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1990. He received his BS Degree in Management Information Systems from National American University in 1996.
Michael married Cheryl Lynn Skarphol on October 11, 1997 in Sioux Falls. They moved to Harrisburg, South Dakota in 2001. Michael enjoyed gardening, especially flower beds, feeding birds, and doing woodworking in his earlier years.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; son, Jeffrey Hulleman and his wife Leslie of Adams, Tennessee; 3 grandchildren, Emily Adair, Kathryn and Brayden Hulleman; his mother, Mary Hulleman of Hawarden; sister, Yarda Wiand and husband Randy of Hawarden; brother, Dwight Hulleman also living in Hawarden; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Melvin.
