Merry Margaret Landenberger was born on October 6, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa, to William and Joyous (Keefer) Ramsey. She grew up on a farm. She lived in Coralville before moving to West Branch in 3rd grade. She graduated from West Branch High School in 1965. In Junior High, Merry started styling hair. After moving to Hawarden, Merry attended Stewart's Beauty School in Sioux Falls. “A stylist can do anything!” and that was Merry. She loved making people feel beautiful and confident- that was her passion.
On April 24, 1985, Merry married the love of her life, Lee Landenberger, and together they built a life in Hawarden, Iowa. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked at Linde’s Salon in Hawarden for 20 years. She also worked at Wells Blue Bunny for another 15 years. After retiring, Merry continued doing hair at the Alcester Nursing Home, Hillcrest, and Oak Hill.
Merry’s family was her whole world. She took so much pride in her children and grandchildren. She was infamously known as “Grams” to her family and grandchildren’s friends. Grams had a warm loving heart and her smile was priceless. She loved making those around her smile and laugh. Merry loved volunteering at the Senior Center and Hawarden Community Dinner each month as well as spending time playing cards with her friends.
