Melba Gertrude Moeller

Inwood, IA: Melba Moeller, 92, of Inwood, Iowa, formerly on Rock Rapids and Alvord, Iowa, died Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Fellowship Village in Inwood. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 20, at 1:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church of Alvord with Pastor Corilee Boer officiating. Burial will follow at Christ Lutheran Cemetery of Alvord. Visitation, with the family present, will be held prior to the funeral service from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM at the church. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley is assisting the family with arrangements. 

   Melba Gertrude Moeller, daughter of Herman Frederick and Helene (Rutz) Conrad, was born December 21, 1927, at Pipestone, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm near Holland, Minnesota. Following her schooling days, Melba worked as a bookkeeper until getting married. She was united in marriage with Frederick Carl Moeller on August 11, 1949 at Holland. The couple was blessed with 4 children: Herman, Robert, Jon, and Jean. Fred died March 4, 1984. Melba worked for several years as a Nurse’s Aide and volunteered as a Foster Grandparent for the Foster Grandparent Program.

   Melba enjoyed life and had many hobbies and joys. She liked reading the Bible, crocheting, embroidering, flower and vegetable gardening, playing cards, fishing, canning, and visiting with family and friends.

   She is survived by 2 children, Jon (Myrna) Moeller of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Jean (Mark) Albrecht of Rock Valley, Iowa; 7 granddaughters, Jennifer, Jana, Jani, Laura, Kelli, Bethany, and Karen; 4 grandsons, Jesse, Ed, Ian, and Jamie; 12 great-granddaughters; 8 great-grandsons; and 2 great-great-grandsons.

   Melba was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Helene; husband, Fred; 2 sons, Herman and Robert Moeller; and brother, Norman Conrad.
