HAWARDEN, IOWA- Marvin Meether, 85, of Hawarden, died suddenly on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Hawarden Regional Healthcare Hospital in Hawarden.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Le Mars Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars, Iowa. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is handling the services.
Marvin Meether was born May 21, 1928 near Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Edwin and Elizabeth (Tieden) Meether. He graduated from the Hawarden High School in 1945. Marvin farmed the Meether Family Farm south of Hawarden where he also raised cattle. He moved in the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden in the fall of 2008.
Marvin was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He loved his family and enjoyed gardening on the farm and even at the care center.
Survivors include two brothers, Arthur of Fergus Falls, Minnesota and Duane and his wife Lois of Hawarden; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John in 1989; and three sisters-in-law, Marion Meether, Ada (Rozell) Meether, and Ruth Meether.
