Martha H. Anderson

Doon, IA: Martha Henrietta Anderson, 93, of Doon, Iowa, died under the care of hospice on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Ottertail, Minnesota. A gathering with family present will be held Tuesday, September 24, from 5:30-7:30 PM at the Doon Community Room next to Doon City Hall (103 3rd Avenue, Doon, Iowa 51235). A private family graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 25, at Hillside Cemetery in Doon. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Anderson.

 Martha Henrietta Anderson, daughter of Andrew and Margaret (Beyer) Ten Braak, was born March 1, 1931, near Doon, Iowa. Martha lived her entire life within a mile of where she was born and raised. She met Adolph Anderson and on October 3, 1952, and the couple was married in Luverne, Minnesota. The couple farmed near Doon for 40 plus years until Adolph’s death on November 8, 1995. Martha continued living on the farm until a couple months before her death on September 19, 2024, at the age of 93.

 Martha loved the farm and could be found working side by side with Adolph and raising their four daughters, Betty, Shirley, Sandra, and Mary. She enjoyed gardening, canning and needlework.

 She is survived by her four daughters, Betty Anderson of Shoreview, Minnesota, Shirley Hallett of Chicago, Illinois, Sandra (David) Rose of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Mary (Jeff) Skogen of Ottertail, Minnesota; two grandsons, William (Logan) Rose and Patrick Rose; brother, Andy Ten Braak of Longmont, Colorado; and two sisters-in-law, Judy Ten Braak of Wichita, Kansas and Carol Ten Braak of Sheldon, Iowa.

 Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Margaret; husband, Adolph; and five siblings, Richard Ten Braak, Christine Erickson, Henry Ten Braak, Chris Ten Braak, and Jennie Stallman.
