Marsha was born on September 21, 1949 to Ralph and Donna Brown at the Hawarden, Iowa Hospital. She grew up in McNally where her parents owned and operated a grain elevator. Marsha loved to tell stories of how much she loved going to country school and hated the idea of going to school in town. Marsha was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ireton. She graduated from West Sioux High School in Hawarden, Iowa in 1967. Marsha received her BA in social work from Wartburg College in 1971. She worked as a social worker in various nursing homes for several years. When driving became more difficult, she did in home child care.
She lived in Ireton for many years and was very active with the Ireton Area Historical Society. She served on the Thrivent board for several years. Marsha was very creative and enjoyed calligraphy and ceramics. She loved to organize and plan things like birthday parties and the Ireton Tour of Homes. Marsha loved living in a small town and appreciated all the support extended to her over the years for her and her family. She adored Boston Terriers. Marsha had several as pets; the most recent was her beloved Sassi who passed away a few months ago.
Marsha died of natural causes in the Orange City Area Health System Hospital on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Janet Brown and brother Randall Brown.
She leaves behind her sister Carol (Brown) Williams of Ames, Iowa; Kat Williams and Nicole Williams both of Austin, Texas; several god-children; and many cousins and friends who will miss her bright smile, willing ear, and kind heart.
