HAWARDEN, IOWA ~ Marlo R. “Butch” Green, 80, of Hawarden, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Hillcrest Health Care Services in Hawarden.
Visitation with the family present will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden. Rev. Joshua Lowe of Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS will close the visitation with prayers at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family prefers memorials be given in Marlo’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS in Hawarden.
Marlo R. “Butch” Green was born October 14, 1941 near Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Lyle and Carmen (Edmunds) Green. He graduated as a Comet from the Hawarden High School in 1959. Marlo worked in area packing houses and retired as a dispatcher from Heyl Trucking in Akron, Iowa. In his younger days he enjoyed bowling and golfing. He loved playing cards with his friends.
He is survived by his mother, Carmen Green of Hawarden; children, Dana Curiel of Hawarden, Jill (Evan) Vander Feen also of Hawarden, and Cody Green of Omaha, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren, Chase (Kylie) Vander Feen of Larchwood, Iowa, Hannah (Adam) McVay of Hawarden, Tucker Vander Feen of Hawarden, Joshua Curiel of Hawarden, and Jameson Green of Omaha; 6 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Ronnie (Connie) Green of Hawarden.
Marlo was preceded in death by his father, Lyle and grandson, Eric.
