Marius Versteeg

George, IA: Marius Versteeg, 35, of George, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Sioux Center Health of Sioux Center, Iowa, due to injuries sustained in a fall. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 13, at 10:00 AM at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation of Sioux Center with Rev. J.J. Witvoet officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be held Monday, August 12, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley. 

   The family is requesting no flowers for the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to the Versteeg Benefit, Premier Bank, PO Box 6, Doon, Iowa 51235. 

 Marius Wijnand Didericus Versteeg, was born on November 1, 1988, in Middelharnis, the Netherlands, the 6th child of Aane-Kors and Gerry (Visser) Versteeg. He immigrated with his family to Norwich, Ontario, Canada in 2002. Marius moved to Iowa, USA, in 2010 and was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ann Blom on May 7, 2010.

 Marius enjoyed working construction, especially ag buildings. He enjoyed playing organ and was a church organist for several years.

 Marius is survived by his wife of 14 years, Elizabeth; 8 children, AaneKors, Tena, Gerdina, Linnea, William, Lydia, Alyssa, and Rachel; parents, Aane-Kors and Gerry Versteeg of Norwich, Ontario, Canada; 7 siblings, Trijntje (Jan-Kees) Troost of Sommelsdijk, the Netherlands, Adriaan (Renda) Versteeg of Kloetinge, the Netherlands, Frans (Catherine) Versteeg of Norwich, Ontario, Canada, Truus (Wim) Roos of Brownsville, Ontario, Canada, Gerline (Arie) Blom of Doon, Iowa, Geertje (Willem) Wisse of Marknesse, the Netherlands, and Hermieneke (Chedy) Olela of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; parents-in-law, William and Tena Blom of Doon, Iowa; grandmother-in-law, Mrs. Gary (Elizabeth) Vander Waal; 5 brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary (Molly) Blom of George, Iowa, Arie (Gerline) Blom of Doon, Iowa, Clazina Blom of Doon, Iowa, Trina (Devon) Fluit of Rock Rapids, Iowa, and William Blom of Doon, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Adriaan and Truus Versteeg; maternal grandparents, Frans and Trijntje Visser; a stillborn brother; and uncle, Marius Versteeg.
