Marilyn Liaboe

Rock Valley, IA: Marilyn L. Liaboe, 90, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Whispering Heights in Rock Valley. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 14, at 10:30 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rock Valley with Rev. John Wolf officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation with the family present will be Tuesday, December 13, from 6:00-7:30 PM at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley. Memorials may be given to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Sunday School.

Marilyn Lorraine (Andersen) Liaboe, daughter of Lars and May (Thompson) Andersen, was born November 21, 1926 in Marshall, Minnesota. Marilyn was united in marriage with Osborne Liaboe on November 21, 1950. Marilyn was a registered nurse and served at the Rock Valley Community School for nearly 30 years. After retirement, Marilyn and Osborne loved to travel and the couple wintered in Arizona for several years. Marilyn was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking. She cherished her grandchildren and loved taking care of them and attending their events. Marilyn was a charter member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 66 years, Osborne; two children, Mark (Gretchen) Liaboe of Dubuque, Iowa and Sonia (Lyle) Remmerde of Rock Valley; seven grandchildren, Lauren (Eric) Reynolds, Frederick (Margaret) Liaboe, Chase Liaboe, Paul (Stacy) Remmerde, Deb (Barry) Leusink, Karin (Adam) Rosman, and Angela Remmerde; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Lyle (Chris) Andersen of Bozeman, Montana; and one sister, Eleanor (Russ) Simonsen of Rock Valley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lars and May; and one brother, Leon Andersen.
