Rock Valley, IA: Marie Vande Kamp, 95, of Rock Valley, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Hegg Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013 at Carmel Reformed Church. Visitation with family present will be held one hour prior to the funeral service from 1:00 ' 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Carmel Reformed Church Cemetery. Marie was born at Perkins, Iowa, daughter of Egbert and Janna (De Graff) Hooyer. She grew up near Carmel, Iowa where she helped with the farming chores and did wall-papering with her sister Bertha. Marie married Walter Vande Kamp on January 11, 1957 and together they lived in Rock Valley, Iowa. Marie sang in her Carmel Reformed Church Choir and enjoyed making Christmas candy, playing board and card games, word finds, collecting Dutch delft, and having coffee and conversation with her friend Bev Boon. Walter died on March 17, 1998.
Surviving relatives include her children, John Vande Kamp of Rock Valley, and Marietta (Duane) De Kruyff of Pella, Iowa; grandson, Cody De Kruyff; best of friends, John and Bev Boon of Rock Valley. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; infant daughter, Jane; two sisters, Bertha and Hattie Hooyer.
