Rock Valley, IA: Margaret Vande Stouwe, 94, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Whispering Heights in Rock Valley. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 22, at 10:00 AM at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley with Rev. J.J. Witvoet officiating. The service will be audio-streamed at https://porterfuneralhomes.com/obituaries/margaret-vande-stouwe-1. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Following the burial, Margaret’s family will greet friends during a time of food and fellowship at the Netherlands Reformed Christian School in Rock Valley. Public visitation, with no family present, will be held Monday, June 21, from 1:00-6:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home.
Margaret (Vande Hoef) Vande Stouwe was born November 1, 1926, to Maas and Hattie (Bleyenberg) Vande Hoef near Sioux Center, Iowa. Margaret married Jake Vande Stouwe on September 17, 1947, at Sioux Center. Together they farmed near Hull, Iowa for 28 years. They moved to Rock Valley, Iowa in 1982. Margaret was involved helping Jake with his business until he retired. Jake died August 20, 2000. Margaret lived the last 6 ½ years at Whispering Heights in Rock Valley where she enjoyed the staff and they enjoyed her. Margaret died Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the age of 94.
Margaret enjoyed crocheting keepsakes for all of her family. She will be remembered for all the fun times she had playing games with her family. Margaret loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She so enjoyed her great-great-granddaughter. Margaret also looked forward to time spent with her sisters, Jeanette Van Kekerix and Henrietta Van Beek. Margaret was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation.
Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her children; daughter, Sandra (Loren) De Jager of Hull, and their children, Brent (Amy) De Jager of Hull, Lora (Sean) Fisher of Glenwood, Iowa, and Lynette (Randy) Feenstra of Hull; son, Greg (Eleanor) Vande Stouwe of Lansing, Kansas, and their children, Joe (Rachael) Vande Stouwe of Sioux Center, Angie (Brandon) Smallwood of Rogers, Arkansas, Ben (Amanda) Vande Hoef of Little Flock, Arkansas, and Waylon (Michele) Vande Hoef of Lincoln, Arkansas; 13 great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; 2 sisters, Jeanette Van Kekerix and Henrietta Van Beek, both of Rock Valley; sister-in-law, Gert Vande Stouwe of Hull; 2 brothers-in-law, Gerrit (Lois) Vande Stouwe of Rock Valley and Clarence (Faye) Vande Stouwe of Apple Valley, California; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maas and Hattie; husband, Jake; 3 brothers; 2 sisters; 5 brothers-in-law; and 3 sisters-in-law.
