Hawarden, IA: LeSharon “Kay” Osterkamp, 82, of Hawarden, Iowa, died Saturday, June 11, 2022, under the care of hospice at the Osterkamp Family Farm near Hawarden. Funeral service will be held Friday, June 17, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Hawarden with Pastor Stuart Schreur officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery of Ireton, Iowa. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Thursday, June 16, at First Baptist Church from 5:30-7:00 PM with a prayer service to follow at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to St. Joseph’s Indian School (www.stjo.org). Porter Funeral Home of Hawarden is assisting the family with arrangements.
LeSharon Kay Osterkamp, daughter of Warren and Olga (Olson) Leeman, was born July 18, 1939, at Winnebago, Minnesota. She grew up and attended school at Wessington Springs, South Dakota. Kay was united in marriage with Earl Peter Osterkamp on September 18, 1957 at Luverne, Minnesota. The couple farmed 7 miles north of Hawarden, Iowa where they farmed with Earl’s parents, John and Florence. Kay loved being a lifelong farmwife and raising their 10 children.
Kay enjoyed crocheting, drawing, camping, playing cards, and games with the family. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Earl and Kay loved taking their grandchildren on trips to their cabin near Custer, South Dakota. Kay was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Hawarden.
Kay is survived by her 10 children, Cindy Seurer of Maplewood, Minnesota, John “Robbie” (Diann) Osterkamp of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Steven (Sherri) Osterkamp of Hawarden, Russell (Patty) Osterkamp of Sioux Falls, Stacey (Teri) Osterkamp of Charles City, Iowa, LeeAnn (Jerry) Beyer of Hawarden, Jill (Larry) Hogue of Fairmont, Minnesota, Shari (Tim) Osterkamp of Hawarden, Judy (Phil) Hooyer of Hudson, South Dakota, and Bill (Misti) Osterkamp of Hawarden; 33 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Warren “Buddy” Leeman of Garretson, South Dakota, Rocky Leeman of Hudson, and Jerry Marquardt of Garland, Texas; and 2 sisters-in-law, Beverly Osterkamp of Hudson and Cheryl Hepner of Rock Falls, Illinois.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Olga; husband, Earl; 2 brothers, Tommy and Gary; and her dearly missed grandsons, Tyler and Jason.
