Inwood, Iowa: Leora Bonnema, 104, of Inwood, Iowa, died Monday, December 23, 2024, at Fellowship Village of Inwood. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 27, at 3:00 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Inwood with Pastor Sue Sinclair officiating. The committal service will begin at 2:30 PM at the church with procession to Richland Cemetery of Inwood. The Porter Funeral Home of Inwood is assisting the family.

 Leora Winona Bonnema, the daughter of Richard and Nellie (Brandt) Moeller, was born September 6, 1920, in Eagle Township near Ireton, Iowa. She grew up in rural Ireton where she attended and graduated from Ireton High School.

 Leora was united in marriage to Richard J. Bonnema on February 28, 1943. They moved to a farm north of Inwood where they raised their 4 children. She was active in Bethlehem Lutheran’s Ladies Aide, and participated in a bowling league. She enjoyed family, playing cards, and crafts that included knitting, crocheting, Swedish weaving, and cross-stich. Leora was also an active gardener. Leora and Richard enjoyed many winters in Pharr, Texas, where she was active in shuffleboard tournaments, crafts, and many card games.

 Leora is survived by her children, Darrel (Pat) Bonnema of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Carol (Wayne) Hoines of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Dale (Lynette) Bonnema of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Helen (David) Short of Hayden, Idaho; 10 grandchildren, Michele (Ken) Christensen; Brenda Baatz; Paula (Chris) Halfacre; Scott (Kristi) Bonnema; Ryan Ellingson; Holly (Josh) Roark; Katie (Adam) Zimprich; Justin (Jessica) Bonnema; Mark (Ashley) Bonnema; Brad Bonnema; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and 18 nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Bonnema; her parents; grandparents; daughter-in-law, Ruth (Blankespoor) Bonnema; 1 brother; 1 sister; and 4 brothers and sisters-in-law.
