Leona May Haack, daughter of William Timmerman, Senior and Mattie (Dirks) Timmerman of Rock Rapids, Iowa was born in Midland Township, Lyon County, Iowa on March 8, 1931, and was baptized on June 5, 1932, at Bethel Reformed Church, Little Rock, Iowa. She grew up in the area and graduated from Rock Rapids High School. She worked at May Drug for a while and later as deputy in the Lyon County Recorder’s Office.

On February 14, 1960, she and Larry Haack were married at Christ Lutheran Church, Alvord, Iowa, after which together they farmed in the Inwood, Iowa area. After Larry passed away, she continued living on the farm, enjoying the outdoors and freedom on the farm.

Leona’s life was defined by love — love for her family, her faith and the simple joys of everyday life. She led with quiet strength and unwavering kindness, never asking for much but always giving everything to those she cared about. Her warmth will be remembered in the laughter shared around her kitchen, the comforting embrace of her handmade quilts and the sweet taste of cookies she baked just to make others smile. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the lessons she taught, the love she gave, and the countless lives she touched.

She is survived by her son, Jerry (Laura) Haack, their son, Joe (Maranda), their child, Zariah and daughter, Karli Haack; daughter, Sheri (Todd) Swank, their sons, Luke and Avery (fiancée Abigail); two brothers, Walt (Betty) Timmerman and Harold (Lyda) Timmerman; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; parents; three brothers, Bill, Benhard and Fred Timmerman; two sisters, Marian Timmerman and Marge Schmahl; three sisters-in-law, Audrey Timmerman, Shirley Timmerman and Mary Timmerman; and three nephews, Mike and Steve Conley and Jon Timmerman. Blessed be her Memory.
