Leona Fluit

Leona Ann (Den Boer) Fluit was born on January 15, 1939 at her parents’ home near Rock Valley, Iowa. She attended country schools and graduated from Rock Valley High School in May 1957. She married Tuenis William Fluit on January 6, 1958 at her parents’ farm home and joined her husband in his military service stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas. Upon completing the military service, they farmed in the Inwood area 58 years. Leona enjoyed working with her family raising livestock on their farm north of Inwood. She also was very fond of reading. Leona died Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Sanford Canton Inwood Medical Center in Canton, South Dakota of heart failure at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 24 days.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Tuenis W. and her seven children: William, Leon, Brenda, Twyla, Wanda, Todd and Lorna. Also other numerous relatives.
Leona was preceded in death by her infant twin daughters, Jane and Judy; her parents; a brother and a sister.
Private family services were held at the Porter Funeral Home in Inwood, Iowa.
