Inwood, IA: Lauren Folkerts Centofanti, 51, of Sioux Falls, SD formerly of Inwood, died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Sioux Falls. A funeral service will be 2 pm Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Christian Reformed Church in Inwood with Rev. Sam Krikke officiating. Burial will follow at the Richland Cemetery. There is no visitation prior to the service. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Union Gospel Mission in Sioux Falls, SD. Lauren was born July 16, 1962, daughter of Cornie and Gert (Van Bemmel) Folkerts. She grew up on the family farm southwest of Inwood where she enjoyed and cultivated her love of nature especially wild flowers and birds. She attended Inwood Christian Elementary School; graduated in 1980 from Western Christian High School at Hull, Iowa; and obtained a fashion merchandising degree from Nettleton College at Sioux Falls. Lauren married Michael Centofanti and they later divorced. Lauren had a love and gift of music, was outgoing, caring and friendly, always having a ready smile and giving a hug. Early on Thursday, August 8, 2013, her Lord and Savior directed his angels to carry her to Heaven to receive an everlasting life of peace and rest.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Cynthia W. Centofanti of Athens, GA; parents, Cornie and Gert Folkerts of Inwood; sister, Julie (Kirk) Hulstein of Sioux Center, Iowa; brother, Greg (Jill) Folkerts of Lafayette, IN; nieces, Mrs. Carlos (Amanda Hulstein) Bahena and their children, Celia and Isaiah, Mrs. Tim (Nichole Hulstein) Van Dyke, Emma Folkerts; nephews, Jason Folkerts, Jarod Folkerts, Matthew (Tracey) Hulstein, Chris Hulstein, Marcel Folkerts, Daniel Folkerts.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jeff Folkerts; grandparents, Pierre and Trina Folkerts, and Fred and Wilhelmina Van Bemmel.
