Sioux City, IA: Lacey Layne Klaahsen, 32, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Friday, January 13, 2017, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, after her courageous fight with cancer. Her remembrance services will include a private family viewing for immediate family on Monday, January 16. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Reformed Church of Rock Valley with Rev. Mike Molenaar officiating. Visitation, with family present will be Monday, January 16, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Faith Reformed Church in Rock Valley, Iowa. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting all monies be directed to Lacey’s daughter, Ryla Cline, in a scholarship fund set up at Premier Bank in Rock Valley, Iowa. Lacey, daughter of Denise (Klaahsen) and Nick Greene, was born December 19, 1984 in Sioux Falls, SD. She attended elementary school at Brandon, SD for 5 years, then completed primary school and graduated from Rock Valley Community High School in 2003. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Liberal Studies from Iowa State University in 2008. After graduation, she worked for Hope Haven in Rock Valley. In October of 2009, she began her employment at Famous Dave’s in Sioux City, where she worked and became part of their Famous family and philosophy.
Lacey loved life. She was a loving and dedicated mother to Ryla, and a committed and loving partner to Ryan. She loved her job and her coworkers. The Dallas Cowboys, working out and being fit, attending live music concerts, spending time with family and friends, and getting her nails manicured were some of her many passions. She was committed to fighting her cancer and with determination and positivity went through each treatment plan; also allowing her blood and tissues to be researched so as to help someone else in the future better fight this disease. She was also active in the American Cancer Society, working to help others in the fight against cancer.
Lacey is survived by her daughter-Ryla Cline, significant other-Ryan Cline and his 2 daughters Kiersten and Alexa, all of Sioux City, IA; parents-Nick and Denise Greene, Rock Valley; 2 brothers-Ryan (Stacy) Greene, Brandon, SD; Christopher Greene, Chariton, IA; 2 sisters-Katelyn Greene, Rock Valley, IA; Samantha Greene, Rock Valley, IA. Grandparents-Eldon and Diane Klaahsen, St. Ansgar, IA: Jack and Lila Greene of Creston, IA: 4 aunts-DeAnna Klaahsen and Michael Mehrara, Phoenix, AZ; Darcey Klaahsen, Tiffin, IA; Linda (Doug) Richie, Blackburn, MO; Sheri (Rusty) Plough, Cedar Rapids, IA; 2 uncles-Danny (Debbie) Greene, Carroll, IA; Ryan (Beth) Klaahsen, Nora Springs, IA, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and her Famous Family.
Lacey was preceded in death by her uncle Randy Klaahsen.
