Kenneth Allen Marshall

HAWARDEN, IOWA ~ Kenneth Allen Marshall, 77, of Hawarden, formerly of Ireton, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Hillcrest Healthcare Services in Hawarden.

 Ken was born February 10, 1947, in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Russell and Edna (Frerichs) Marshall. He graduated from West Sioux High School in Hawarden in 1965. He attended Iowa State University and received a BS Degree from South Dakota State University.

 Ken pursued a career in welding and worked with the Boilermakers Union in Omaha, Nebraska. He mostly worked on large electrical power houses during his working years. Following health concerns, Ken moved to Oakhill Assisted Living in Hawarden 2 years ago.

 He was an avid reader and enjoyed doing wood carving, hunting and fishing. When he was younger, while the family lived in South Dakota, he did a lot of trapping. Ken was a very kind uncle, always remembering his nephews’ and nieces’ birthdays.

 He is survived by his brother, Gary Marshall and his wife Karen of Vermillion, South Dakota; sister, Linda Kuecker and her husband Rod of Le Mars, Iowa; and several nephews and nieces.

 Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Edna; and a brother, Ronald.

 Ken donated his body to the University of South Dakota Body Donor Program to assist students with their education into a medical profession.

 Ken’s family will hold a family gathering at a later time to remember Ken and honor his life.

 The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family.
