Kenneth Hansen

Rock Valley, IA: Kenneth Hansen, 82, of Rock Valley, died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Hegg Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. A funeral service will be at 10:30 am Thursday at Pioneer United Methodist Church, Rock Valley with Rev. Todd Schlitter officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. John Kenneth Hansen was born July 7, 1930 at Rock Valley, the only child of William B. and Irene (Long) Hansen. He graduated from Rock Valley High School and obtained his pharmacy degree at Drake University in 1951. Kenneth married Shirley Dale on September 17, 1955 at Hawarden. He was a pharmacist at Webster City, Hawarden, and Rock Valley until 1966 when he became president of Valley State Bank and in 1980 until 2004 was chairman and CEO of the State Bank of Hudson. Ken was a fine baseball player and an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman. He enjoyed wintering in Green Valley, AZ.

Ken is survived by his wife, Shirley of Rock Valley; two sons, David (Erin) Hansen of Rock Valley and Paul (Annette) Hansen of Clear Lake, SD; grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica) Hansen and Joshua Hansen of Sioux Falls, SD, Ashley and Stacey Hansen of Clear Lake, SD; and great-grandchildren, Damien, Hannah, and Imara.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, William B. and Irene Hansen.
