HAWARDEN, IOWA – Kenneth Lloyd Bultman, 92, of Hawarden, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Hillcrest Health Care Services in Hawarden.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS in Hawarden with Rev. Joshua Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Bergstom Bodeen Post 128 of Hudson, South Dakota and the Iowa Honor Guard. Visitation with the family will be 1 hour prior to the funeral and at the luncheon following the committal service. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family.
Kenneth Lloyd Bultman was born March 30, 1930 in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Harry Ernest and Luella Helen (Eilts) Bultman. He attended Bultman School in Washington Township to the eighth grade and Hawarden High School, graduating in 1947. Kenneth served with the U.S. Army from April 10, 1953 to February 11, 1955 during the Korean War with the 809th Engineer Aviation Battalion at Kimpo Air Base (K-14) in Korea. After extending the air strip at Kimpo, the Battalion moved to Guam to work on Anderson Air Base for 1 year as Kenneth was a heavy equipment operator.
Kenneth married Vivian Moeller on February 19, 1956 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ireton, Iowa. They farmed northeast of Hawarden and retired into Hawarden in 1994. Kenneth was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS in Hawarden, the Bergstrom Bodeen American Legion Post 128 of Hudson, South Dakota and a life member of Amvets of Ireton.
Kenneth is survived by 2 sons, Brian Bultman and Bruce Bultman both of Hawarden; 3 daughters, Barb Altena and husband Ralph of Arnolds Park, Iowa, Bonnie Kusler and husband Ben of Akron, Iowa, and Beth Schlumbohm and husband Judd of Hawarden; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vivian on April 20, 2022; 2 brothers and their wives, Donald and Millie Bultman and Darold and Ada Bultman; sister, Janet Even and her husband Jack; great-grandson, Emmit Carl Harry; and Vivian’s siblings, Melvin and his wife Mildred, Lyle, Dean, Lowell, Daryl, Raymond, Violet in infancy, and Verna Schlumbohm and her husband Bernard.
