HAWARDEN, IOWA ~ Jule Charma Lee Schoellerman, 82, of rural Hawarden, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS in Hawarden, Iowa with Rev. Joshua Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family. Jule Charma Lee Schoellerman was born December 30, 1941, on a farm east of Beresford, South Dakota, the daughter of Joe and Lucelia (Tschudy) Pliska. She graduated from Beresford High School in 1959.
Jule married Howard Schoellerman on March 5, 1960, at Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS in Hawarden, Iowa. Together they farmed east of Alcester, South Dakota, where they raised their two sons, Randy and Kevin. Jule worked for many years at Custom Coils in Alcester as a quality control person. Besides working in town, Jule would rise early, make her family breakfast, and after her time at Custom Coils, she would help Howard with farming, fix supper, and do housework. Jule kept their family home spotless and was always wallpapering or painting to keep their home looking nice.
When Randy and Kevin were young the family would take trips to Branson, Missouri and they always enjoyed fishing and camping together. Jule loved to garden and watching birds and she also loved and cared for her dogs, Holly and Buddy.
Jule is survived by her son, Kevin and wife Julie of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 5 grandchildren, Hillary (Chad) Andrews of Beresford, South Dakota, Whitney Schoellerman of Cranston, Rhode Island, Erin (Collin) Zwart of Miller, South Dakota, John (Veronica Witts) Schoellerman of Beresford, and Katie (Travis) Gerlach of Baltic, South Dakota; 3 great-grandchildren, Carilee, Oakleigh, and Elliana; 2 brothers, Garren (Ruth) Pliska of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Jerry (Linda) Pliska of Garretson, South Dakota; brother-in-law, Wendell Gabel of Canton, South Dakota; Howard’s siblings; and nephews and nieces.
Jule was preceded in death by her parents; son, Randy on September 13, 2022; husband, Howard on March 21, 2024; sister, Marcene Gabel; and nephew, Jay Pliska.
