Rock Valley, IA: Judith Ann Baatz, 80, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 15, at 2:00 PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Rock Valley with Pastor Edward Pease officiating. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Sunday, November 14, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church from 4:00-6:00 PM. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley is assisting the family with arrangements.
Judith Ann Baatz, daughter of Raymond and Ruby (Twedt) Steenholdt, was born July 15, 1941, at Canton, South Dakota. Judy attended school through the eighth grade and then entered the workforce. She met Kenneth Baatz and the couple was united in marriage on June 3, 1966. The couple farmed and lived west of Rock Valley, Iowa. In addition to being a farm wife, Judy also worked many jobs outside the home over the years.
Judy was always on the go. She rarely missed her grandchildren or great-greatgrandchildren’s events. She loved time spent with family. Judy also had a love for shopping. You could often find her buying from QVC, The Home Shopping Network (HSN), or taking trips up to Sioux Falls. Judy enjoyed flower gardening and an occasional trip to the casino.
Judy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Kenneth Baatz; daughter, Pam Butler of Rock Valley; two grandchildren, Travis (Tera Parmeter) Butler of Rock Valley and Chelsea Butler of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two great-grandchildren, Talynn and Trynleigh; three sisters, Arlene Markle of Canton, Phyllis (Jerald) Suing of Sioux Falls, and Karen Miller of Tea, South Dakota; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Schiefen of Hawarden, Iowa and Donna (Jon) Anderson of Doon, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ruby; infant grandson, Brandon Butler; two brothers, Curtis and Kenny Steenholdt; parents-in-law, Matt and Louise Baatz; brothers-in-law, Francis (Wilma) Baatz, Don Markle, and Gerald Miller; and sister-in-law, Eleanor (Jim) Van Berkum.
