Judina Vanden Berg

Rock Valley, IA: Judina Vanden Berg, 77 of Corsica, South Dakota, formerly of Rock Valley, Iowa died Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Netherlands Reformed Congregation of Rock Valley with Rev. E.C. Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Monday, February 8, 2016 at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley from 6:30-8:00 p.m. with a time of scripture and prayer at the close of visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Corsica Netherlands Reformed Christian School.

Judina Vanden Berg, daughter of Case and Antonetta (Smit) Van Tilburg, was born September 27, 1938 in Carmel, Iowa. She attended country school in Lyon County through the 8th grade. On February 17, 1960, Judina was united in marriage with John Vanden Berg in Rock Valley, Iowa. Together the couple farmed northeast of Rock Valley until John’s death in 2006. Judina then moved to Corsica, South Dakota to be near family. Judina enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cross stitch, and puzzles. She was a lifelong member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation.

Judina is survived by her two children, Brad (Mary) Vanden Berg of Armour, South Dakota and Jolene Vander Veer (Jim Sidlow) of Hastings, Nebraska; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Deloris (Lyle) Vanden Brink of Sioux Center, Iowa; brother-in-law, Don (Addie) Vanden Berg of Lynden, Washington; and 3 sisters-in-law, Deloris, Coba, and Marge Van Tilburg, all of Rock Valley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Case and Antonetta; husband, John; son Cliff Vanden Berg in 1999; and 4 brothers, Floris, Tom, Emery, and Marvin Van Tilburg.
