Jerome Schiefen

Hudson, South Dakota- Jerome Schiefen, 74, of rural Hudson, South Dakota died Friday, March 1, 2013 at his home.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden with Father Roger Linnan officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Hill Cemetery.
Jerome was born July 8, 1938 near Hudson, South Dakota, the son of Philip and Lucille (Wilkens) Schiefen. He graduated from the Hudson High School and attended USD for one year. He married Barbara Adams on June 3, 1959 in Hawarden, Iowa. The family lived near Hudson on a farm since 1966.
Jerome liked to watch NASCAR, football, and basketball. He enjoyed looking at old tractors and antique cars. He especially enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren in their many different activities.
Survivors include three children, David of Clancy, Montana, Suzan (John) Loverink of Rock Valley, Iowa and Greg (Kim) Schiefen of Hudson, South Dakota; five grandchildren, Brianne (Zach) Warren of Anchorage, Alaska, Will Reynolds of Sioux City, Iowa, and Ashley, Cassie, and Kolby Schiefen of Hudson, South Dakota; and four great-grandchildren, Aislynn, Tralee, Kai and Finn Warren of Anchorage, Alaska.
Jerome was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara; and a son, Martin Schiefen.
