Hawarden: Jennie Kruid, 93, of Hawarden, Iowa died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Porter Funeral Home in Ireton, Iowa with Rev. Harlan De Jong officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton. Visitation with the family will be prior to the funeral service at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014. Jennie was born November 27, 1920 in rural Ireton, Iowa to John and Grace (Trist) Kruid. She graduated from high school as valedictorian. Jennie lived in rural Ireton, Hospers, and Hawarden. While in Hawarden she worked at Otis Radio. She also took care of her brothers and sisters in their later years. For the past eight years, Jennie lived at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden and most recently at Morningside Manor in Alcester, South Dakota.

She is survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Jennie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward, James, Henry, Herman and Gerrit; and sisters, Hermina “Minnie” Kruid, Alice Tina Kruid, and Margaret Kruid.
