Jeanne Delaine (Nobel) Landegent was born September 23, 1935, near Rock Valley, Iowa, the daughter of John and Nellie (Baker) Nobel. She grew up on farms near Rock Valley with her older brother and sister.
Jeanne attended school in Rock Valley and graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa, where she used her height to play basketball. After high school, she worked in the Sioux Center, Iowa and Sioux Falls, South Dakota hospitals.
Jeanne married the love of her life, Case Landegent, on April 15, 1955. They lived in Rock Valley and Bellflower, California before moving to the farm near Alvord, Iowa in 1958. The farm was home for 33 years. Jeanne was her husband’s helping hand during spring planting and harvest. They raised their 5 children on the farm with Jeanne sewing many of their clothes, providing them with fresh vegetables and canned goods from her large garden, and giving them a loving, Christian home. She loved flowers as well and shared seeds and roots with family and friends.
Jeanne began working at the Rock Valley Sale Barn and Hay Auction in 1976. She loved working with her co-workers and farmers and worked there for 25 years before retiring. In 1991, Case and Jeanne moved to Inwood and continued to stay busy with their 20 grandchildren’s many sport events and music programs. In retirement, Case and Jeanne continued to go fishing and travel, visiting all 50 states and many foreign countries.
Jeanne was a faithful member of the Inwood Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed being involved in Bible studies and church events.
