Janet Wallace

Rock Valley, IA: Janet Wallace, 89, of Rock Valley, died Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Whispering Heights, Rock Valley. Visitation with family will be 1-2 pm Saturday at Porter Funeral Home followed by Burial Service at 2:30 pm at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Janet was born March 15, 1924 on the family farm near Rock Valley, daughter of Simon and Coba (Dykstra) Vogelzang. She married Dwight Wallace on August 27, 1954. They lived at Rock Valley where Janet wrote the Folktale column for the Rock Valley Bee for 20 years and also was an Avon salesperson. Dwight died January 18, 1967. Janet was a loving mother for her three children and loving friend of Ken 'Joe' Koedam. She enjoyed music and liked to crochet, crossword puzzles, word finds, anything purple, had a good sense of humor, and loved to joke around.

Surviving relatives include her children, Vernon (Laura) Wallace of Rock Valley, Joyce (Terry) Kroese of Rocheport, MO, Glorene (Kelly) Bressler of Guymon, OK; six grandchildren, K.D. Bressler, Jessica (Kelby) Peoples, Josh Kroese, Chelsey Kroese, Alicia (Austin) Gisolf, and Kenton Wallace; and 2 sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight; parents; brothers, Fred (Tena), Sam, Ted Vogelzang; sisters, Jessie (George) Olson, Reka Faber, Tena (Frank) Middle, Gertie (William) Rozeboom.
