Hawarden, Iowa- James M. Holmberg, Sr., 76, of Hawarden, died Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.
Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Grace Hill Cemetery with Rev. Barb Joy of the Hawarden United Methodist Church officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Two Oaks American Legion Post 254 of Hawarden.
James M. Holmberg was born March 2, 1937 in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Lyle and Alis (Dougherty) Holmberg. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.
James married Kay Ling and to this marriage two children were born, James and Alis. He worked in a machine shop in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and in 1991 he began employment at Coilcraft in Hawarden. He married Cindy Liston McKee on April 1, 1992. James retired from Coilcraft in 2003.
James was a jolly person and full of pranks. People always had a lot of fun with him and enjoyed many laughs. He moved into Hillcrest Health Care Center in January of this year.
Survivors include his son, James Michael Holmberg, Jr.; his daughter, Alis Rocha; 5 grandchildren, Micha, Noah, and Aiden Holmberg and Ana and Kaylee Rocha; and a great-grandchild, Brenden Lee Rocha.
